Wednesday March 10
The Goethe-Institut at SLC Das Deutschmobil kommt German in Motion.
Date: March 10, 2010  Time: 8.30 - 10.30
Place: Language lab 332
From March 1 to May 31, 2010 the Deutschmobil will be on a on a 14 000 km tour through Canada.

Two young ambassadors of the German language, Florian G. und Eva P will bring an interesting and colorful program (music, sports and film) to SLC students in order to promote and revive interest in the German language.
All students are invited!! The activities are in German and English.

onorable Michael Sheehan and Mr. Eric Lebrun will be our guest speakers on March 23 at 12H30 in room 268.  Michael Sheehan will talk about the loss experienced following the suicide of a loved one. Eric Lebrun will talk about the benefit one gets from asking for help when one has suicidal ideations.

Thursday April 8
Canadian authors: Lawrence Hill and Karolyn Smardz Frost will be visiting the College on Thursday April 8th at 12:10-1:10. Room 268 Lawrence Hill is an award winning novelist, essayist, and documentarian. His publications include among others, Blackberry Sweet Juice: On Growing up Black and White in Canada (2001),  the multi-award -winning The Book of Negroes ( Commonwealth Writer's Prize for Best Book, etc),  Some Great Thing (2009), and The Deserter's Tale: The Story of an Ordinary Solider Who Walked Away from Iraq (non-fiction)*.
Karolyn Smardz Frost is an archaeologist, historian and Governor-General award winning author for the 2007 book, I've Got A Home In Glory Land: A Lost Tale of the Underground Railroad.*

The SLC music group “What the Heck”, will be offering us a concert.  More info to come.

Little Green Concert for Earth Day room 268 featuring performances by teachers, managers and staff. 12:10 to 1:45.  Tickets will be $5.00 and all proceeds will go to the St. Lawrence green fund.

SLC Reaches Out: 

I want to warmly thank everyone who participated as a volunteer or in the organization of this second edition of "SLC Reaches Out". All the organizations visited by our volunteers were very appreciative of the help they received on this special day. UPCOMING ACTIVITIES FALL 2009 and WINTER 2010

Marathon d'écriture intercollégial   20e édition le 5 et 6 mars 2010 (please see your French teacher for more information)

24 heures… 4 lieux… 1 thème… et plus de 200 étudiantes et étudiants, provenant des cégeps du Québec, qui laissent couler les mots et qui produisent, individuellement, plusieurs courts textes.

Périodes d’écriture libres et ateliers de création animés par des écrivains et des auteurs québécois ponctuent le marathon qui prend aussi des airs de concours littéraire intercollégial. Le premier prix? Rien de moins qu’une publication du texte dans l'hebdomadaire culturel Voir. À vos mots : rédigez!

Le Marathon est réalisé par le Cégep André-Laurendeau en collaboration avec le Cégep de Drummondville, le Cégep de Rimouski et l'I.T.A, Campus de La Pocatière.
